Knowledge Is A Spiritual Blessing

Wisdom

Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
for I trust your commands.

Psalm 119:66
New International Version (NIV)

I've been struggling of late. Computer woes have been wearing me down at a time when my need for technical knowledge is a high priority for me. I call this knowlege a "need" as my current activities seem to be what I've been called to do at this time of my life.

Perhaps it's wisdom that I need.  Or discernment?  What have I been called to do?

I have seen much good fruit borne because of my blogging efforts.  Likewise I have seen much time consumed.   I go back and forth with this issue.  After nearly two decades of work at a job for which I have been grateful, but was not exceedingly satisfying to my spirit, I have found an activity which I am passionate about.   The job kept cupboards full and the bills paid, but the blogging has not.  God has provided in these recent years, but I'm not sure that I am contributing.

If I am to continue my blogging efforts then I pray that God will bestow upon me a wisdom to know how to proceed and the knowledge to do it correctly.  I have faith that if I am to proceed then a solution will come to make my computers work optimally so I can do what I need to do in a timely and efficient manner.

In some ways this all may seem like a crazy thing to hand over to God, but sometimes it's the crazy things that put God's work into motion.

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit...
1 Corinthians 12:8
New International Version (NIV)

For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Proverbs 2:10
New International Version (NIV)

  3. I, too, have been so blessed and helped by your blogging passion and believe you are right where God wants you to be.He promises to supply what we need in order to accomplish that which He's called us to do. No detail is too small and no request too crazy to be placed in His lap! Because (like Solomon!) you asked for wisdom rather than financial blessings per se, I believe God will similarly provide you with both...in abundance!

  4. I've hit that struggle before. Between my job, my grad studies, my responsibilities at church and my family, I am not always sure that there is room for my blog. It is always on my mind.

Dropping my from A to Z Challenge. This is my first year participating.

  5. Elaine -- Thanks for those encouraging words. They mean a lot to me.

Brett-- There's a lot of balance involved. Blogging comes last if it's not paying the bills, but it can be important in other ways. Glad to have you with us in this year's Challenge.

  6. Were you sitting at my kitchen table when you wrote this? My word, it seems to be one of our theme conversations around here at times. And yes, I hand it over to God too. He is the boss, after all!

  7. I can so relate. I often wonder if blogging is of any real eternal value. Expressing my thoughts and heart is very satisfying to me, but what does it really contribute to the Kingdom? I don't know. It was nice to read that you wonder about the same thing. :-)

  8. Betty has also prayed in accordance with your own prayer, Lee! I really haven't been a consistent blogger, however for the time that I have blogged and ready your post they have always blessed me in one way or another! The love of Christ within you has always touched the love of Christ within Betty. You are our brother and we care and love you very much! Gods will be done unto you Lee!
