When You Have Sinned

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

What do you do when you have sinned? Approach the Lord with contrition? Pray? Ask forgiveness? If you answered "all of the above" then you are doing the right thing.

Ideally we would never sin, but since none of us are perfect this is a tall order for anyone. We sometimes become weak. We may fall out of sync with the heart of God. We become haughty and think we can do everything on our own. We set ourselves up for a fall.

Keep God close by your side. If sin causes you to stumble, God will prevent your fall.

You are one of God's finest works, but you are still a work in progress. Let God do His work within you.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

New International Version (NIV)

  4. I'm feeling rather childish this morning. In my 10-second self-analysis of past behavior, I have been like a child that tries to glue her mother's heirloom vase back together so mama won't know it was broken. I've tried to hide it when I've done wrong. Of course, this is totally silly, due to God's onmiscience. The good news for me in this case is that I can still go to God and repent, and He will still show mercy.
