When You Are Fearful

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

King James Version (KJV)

There are many things in today's world that can make us afraid.    If nature is not out to get us, then the evil in the hearts of men surely will hurt us or even kill us. Bad guys lurk in the shadows of the streets in the towns where we live while bad world leaders and armies gather in far off lands to destroy the nation where we live. If the criminally minded enemy in our own neighborhood doesn't harm us the larger powers will eventually do us in.

So what should I fear most in this world? The government is supposed to take care of me aren't they? So why are they spying on all of us and coming up with those things that can take away our freedoms and enslave us under their evil rule? I am apprehensive about things to come, but also excited in many ways.

We live in a wondrous time in respect to both the amazing accomplishments of humankind and the promise of things to come as prophesied in the Bible thousands of years ago. We should not be surprised about things that have happened already and the events yet to come. Nor should we be afraid as the pieces of God's great plan come together.

Many people are afraid of that which is unknown. And many will be afraid as prophecies unfold. Then others know the comfort in God's love for us and know the end of the story that is in the telling.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

King James Version (KJV)

  1. When we have put our trust in God we no longer have to fear the future. We don't control it! God does! And we couldn't be in more loving hands. Happy Sunday, Arlee!

  2. Good post Lee, Fear is not a pleasant or ideal situation to be in, I can relate to fear ....what I won't go into as they are personal and probably many have the same fears.
But at the end of the day one shouldn't worry about what they have no control over.
    Enjoy your Sunday:
    Yvonne.

  3. "Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow Me, and I will give you rest." Couldn't help but start humming this song while I read your post, Lee. Evil is a strange thing, my friend. It's something we often don't see coming, until it hits us square between the eyes.

I've seen it a few times...in the woman beaten by her husband, the grown up child who has no regard for their aging parent, and the greed of people preying on others, if for no other reason, because they simply can't get enough of themselves and are beyond arrogant and prideful.

The world has had evil since the beginning - think of Adam & Eve, Cain & Abel. Is today's world of sign of the times and a fulfillment of prophecy? I don't know. All I truly know and believe is that if Christ is for us, who has a chance of standing against us?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom on this topic, Lee. This was an inspiring and enjoyable post to read today.
