Adam

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Genesis 2:7

New King James Version (NKJV)

Faith is required to believe such a story as the creation of man by God.  Yet is it any more outlandish than to believe that life went through billions of years of gradual changes through numerous organisms and species until a human came into being.   Believing in that takes a great deal of faith from my point of view.  They are theories and suppositions from the incredible human mind.

This mind of man--is it the product of evolutionary process that began with cells brought to life by a force like lightening and then gradually evolving into various creatures and culminating in the appearance of humans?  The balance and interconnectivity of a complex universe and our biosphere Earth is difficult to conceive as an act of randomness--even if it took trillions of years.  The intelligence of the way everything falls into place begs for a theory of Intelligent Design.

There is a history before the coming of humankind that no man knows in detail.   According to the Bible, the history of humankind begins with one man.  That man is known as Adam.

Where the Genealogy of Jesus Christ begins:

... the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

Luke 3:38

New King James Version (NKJV)

  2. Faith in a world of science is hard. I go forward being okay with the fact I don't know everything, nor do I need to. Nice post.

  4. Since I just started re-reading Genesis about a month ago, I spent a lot of time thinking about this and that through it. Since the Bible says that Adam named the animals, it made me think where he got his knowledge from which led me to the conclusion obviously God was teaching him, as a loving Father, like our earthly parents would teach us. What it must have been like to live in the garden and to have fellowship with God like Adam and Eve did.

    Great "A".

  5. Pam-- Hope I can deliver some coherent message that might reach someone who needs it.

Brandon -- And a lot of scientific theories require a lot of faith so they shouldn't disregard the story of creation.

Stephen -- Writing these helps keep me more focused on the important things in life.

Betty -- I think there is a huge untold story that exists prior to the fall of man.
