The Lord is my shepherd;
    I have everything I need.

Psalm 23:1

Good News Translation (GNT)

        In the first domain of man, the Garden of Eden, all needs were provided.  Man tended the Garden and saw after the animals.   There was abundance of the things required for human existence. God walked with Adam and Adam lacked nothing.

       After the fall, Adam and Eve were expelled from paradise.   Life was tougher as humans were required to toil more to sustain their existence.  And yet God still watched over his creation.   There are so many instances when God provided His people what they needed for survival.

         This holds true to our time.  The faithful are taken care of.   The evils of this world such as disease, hunger, and war cannot be blamed on God.   God is the solution to these problems, the escape from them.  When people blame God for evil they are not looking within themselves to see where evil really dwells.

          God will provide what you really need.  Need is the key word here.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?    You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

James 4:1-2

New International Version (NIV)

  2. So often we confuse needs and wants, especially with all the ads trying to convince us that we NEED this or that. So thankful that God sifts through those wants and provides what we need. Good post, Arlee!

  3. Totally agree with what Pam said; God does provide needs; I've never been known to be without a place to live, clothes to wear, food to eat, etc., but it might not have been my first choice of what I wore, but I had clothes; and for that I am grateful he always provides.

  4. Thanks for these thoughts, Arlee. Everything I've needed, God has indeed provided.
