         Telling others about something good in our lives is something we usually enjoy doing.  Perhaps it's an upcoming wedding, the impending birth of a child, or a new job.   When we are excited about our circumstances we want to share our joy with others.   It might seem strange not to want to share good news.

          Yet how often do we hold back on telling others about the best news of all.  The Good News.  The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  

          "Let someone else do it," we may say.  "'I'm not good at talking to people about something like the Gospel," is our excuse.

           Sometimes if you aren't the one to tell the Good News to a friend, a relative, or a lost soul who needs to hear it, then that person may never hear it and will be lost.   God will guide you in your words if you will allow Him.

            Don't be ashamed of the Gospel.  Don't be afraid of offending someone with the Good News.  Someone's gotta do it.   Why can't that someone be you?

 For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”   How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?  And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace,
    who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Never Give Up the Work of the Lord!

         During this month this blog is participating in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge in which I will be posting daily except for Sundays using the letters of the alphabet as prompts.  My topic concerns the mission of reaching people to bring them salvation through Jesus Christ.

        If I accomplish nothing more than soften hearts and plants seeds then I will deem this a successful endeavor.   We must always try for we never know when we will reach that one person who is ready to hear God's Good News.

        And furthermore, if my efforts here have inspired one or more of you to further the spread of the Gospel through your own efforts then this will have been a successful mission.   We do what we can, when we can with what we have to work with.   

         Blogging offers great possibilities for reaching out to the ends of the Earth to all kinds of people.  I encourage bloggers everywhere to do something positive with your blogs.   

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Evangelism

       When you hear some great news you usually want to go out and share it.  You become excited and want to be the first one to tell your friends, family, and anyone who will listen to you.  Have you experienced this?   Someone tells you something that brings an incredibly happy feeling that makes you go around beaming and you can't help to keep talking about the news you've received.

       The Good News is that God is great and merciful.  He has provided you with hope in His saving grace.  Some will spend an eternity of suffering separated from the loving creator.   It's not what He wants for anyone, but sadly many will make this choice through their unwillingness to accept God's mercy.

       The Word is there for you.  If you know it's available will you still refuse to listen and learn what God has to offer.   It's your choice.  To not make a choice is making a choice.  You have to decide this and if you decide to invite Jesus into your life and submit to God's will, you will be renewed.  If you have done this, you should be compelled to tell others.

       Evangelism has taken a negative connotation for many.   Even the dictionary definitions make evangelism sound like something wacky and intrusive.  It's not something you have to do from a pulpit, in an arena, from a soapbox, or on television.  You can evangelize anyone and do it in your own way.  Just telling others about God and what's in the Bible can make a big difference in their lives.

        Shouldn't you be at least as excited about telling others about the truly Good News as you would be to tell them about a good movie you've seen or a book you've read?  Which news will have the most impact in the long run?

       Once you have truly heard the Word of God you have been delivered the Good News.  If you hear the Good News be sure to tell everyone who will listen.  It may be the most important thing you will ever do.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
