My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

Psalm 42:3

New International Version (NIV)

I think a good many people believe that God, if He exists, is aloof and doesn't care about us.  We often hear the scoffers say things like, "If God really cares so much then why does he let bad things happen to the world".   Maybe it's time to stop blaming God for the bad things and start recognizing the bad choices that people have made since the beginning of time.

We can question the goodness or the aloofness all we want, but it still doesn't make us any better or absolve us from taking responsibility for the wrong things that we do.  Evil, pain, and natural disaster are all part of a process that started with our first rebellion against God.

Bad things will always happen in the current order of the universe.  God is good. The future is good and we should rejoice in that.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 4:23-24

New King James Version (NKJV)

  1. Amen! God is good and He is good all the time. I believe that even though bad things may happen to us, He will never forsake us. He will not put us in situations that we can not handle. If God puts you in it, He will get you through it. We just have to have faith. Thank you for this wonderful and insightful post. Have a blessed weekend my friend!

  2. "Maybe it's time to stop blaming God for the bad things and start recognizing the bad choices that people have made since the beginning of time."

So true, but the truth of what we face was posted by an atheist we were having a discussion with on FB:

"And yet, what is Lucifer's heinous crime? That he wanted Man to have the knowledge of good and evil? That he wanted Man to think for themselves?

Lucifer's "crime" - in any recounting of the story - is that he wants Man to have free will and decide for himself/herself what is best for himself/herself. Yahweh, on the flip side, is a cruel master, demanding strict obedience. Failure to comply will lead to a wrath where he has been known to level cities, or even the entire population of the planet."

When Satan has the world THIS fooled, you wonder what the next step is.
