Progress Does Not Entail Destroying the Earth

The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
    and established it on the waters.

Psalm 24:1-2

New International Version (NIV)

        More often we have been hearing reports of massive fish kills and ocean life that is being threatened.  Some of this may be occurring naturally, but there are many indications that most of this disruption of the sea is due to the carelessness of humans.

        Pollution, contamination, overfishing, and other intrusions due to human activity are causing great damage to the world's water environments.  We need to be mindful that mankind has been given stewardship of this Earth which ultimately belongs to our God who created it.

         I'm no tree hugger or radical environmentalist.  Nor am I a luddite who resists change and moving forward into the modern world.  Sometimes though it's a good idea to be aware of what happening to the world.  Those who can make a big impact are to be encouraged and given our prayer support.  If we can contribute something to tending to the world God gave us to manage, then we should do it.

         Personally I'm glad to see more communities participating in recycling efforts and taking the environment into greater consideration.  It's up to us to take care of our home the Earth.  Even the little things we do can add up to making a big difference.

For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.

Good Stewardship

        I have been unemployed for the past 2 1/2 years.  These are difficult economic times as I'm sure you are aware.  I am currently working on something that I hope will help bring me back to a better financial standing and I pray for God's blessings on my endeavors.

         Are my pursuits in vain?  Am I blinded by the brightness of my own vision and failing to realize God's will?

         Lord, I ask for wisdom in my thinking and favorable blessings on that which I do.  Let me see the folly of my ways quickly or begin to feel an uplifting of success.  Open my eyes and let me see clearly, o Lord.

You have made us a little lower than the angels
   and crowned us with glory and honor.
 You made us rulers over the works of your hands;
   you put everything under our rule...

                                           Psalm 8:5-6
