This blog--A Few Words--and all the posts for the A to Z Challenge are for you the readers.   I hope that I sometimes inspire or enlighten you if you are already a follower of Christ.  But most of all, it's my hope that I will reach you--the one who does not know Jesus as your savior.

You--each of you--are one of God's children and you are precious to him.  Some of you may be lost, hurting, or unsure about your lives.  If this is you, then I encourage you to start at the beginning of my A to Z series and read through the posts.  Contemplate where you are in your life and where you are going.  Study the Bible.   Click on the tab on this page labeled Take the Next Step.  Ask questions.  Pray for guidance.

I hope to see all of you visiting back to A Few Words now and then.  Let me know when you do.  Your encouragement is a big help to me.  I thank each of YOU for it.

If you would like to know more about a true life change in a positive direction, then please read Take the Next Step.

When My Spirit Becomes Dispirited

I will love You, O Lord, my strength.

Psalm 18:1

New King James Version (NKJV)

I need that strength!  I need a love that will encompass the world and reflect all the good that You are. Sometimes I feel so discouraged about this sad, decrepit and seemingly hopeless world.  The beauty of creation lifts me up, but then I hear the next bit of bad news that brings me back to dirty streets and despairing humans who seem to have no direction.

Oh, Lord!  Please fill me with that strength.  My well seems to be running dry.  My mind and body are on the brink of vitiation.   My spirit is threatened with atrophy.  Lift me up, Lord, and overflow my cup with Living Water to sate my seemingly unquenchable thirst.

You have shown me the greatest love and I am in your hands.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

1 John 3:1

English Standard Version (ESV)

Open 24 Hours

BARCALDINE, AUSTRALIA - MARCH 28: (EDITORS NOT...Image by Getty Images via @daylife

The day is Yours, the night also is Yours;
You have prepared the light and the sun.

Psalm 74:16

New King James Version (NKJV)

Whether we are awake or asleep God is open for business.

God is like the 24 hour market that conveniently provides your needs whenever you need them.

God is the fuel stop that never closes allowing you to reinvigorate yourself when you need a boost in life.

God is like the emergency clinic where doctors are always available to tend to the sick and broken.

God is the church that never closes its doors and is ready to accommodate prayer and worship at any time of day.

God is open for business 24 hours a day.  The door is always open and the light is always on.

Consider God's Wonders

God's WondersImage by AR Nature Gal via Flickr

I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart;
I will tell of all Your wonders.

Psalm 9:1    New American Standard Bible (NASB)

We all like to be recognized for our achievements and to be thanked for a job well done.  Since we are created in the image of God it would make sense that God himself would like this same thing.

And why wouldn't we want to thank Him and praise Him and tell everyone about how wonderful He is.  He is God, the Mighty One who created all things.

Take pause and give God the credit He is due.

Please Listen to Me Lord

Speak Lord For Thy Servant HearsImage via WikipediaGive ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
Psalm 5:1 (King James Version)

God hears our prayers, of this I have no doubt.  But we are sometimes insecure in our plaints and pleadings to one so mighty as the Creator of all things.  Why would He listen to us?  Because He is our Father in Heaven.

I sometimes wonder if my prayers are heard because I am weak, afraid, and foolish.  Perhaps I am babbling nonsense that is overly selfish and ultimately meaningless in the grander scheme of things.  Yet I pray.  Is this not what prayer is?--A meditative process to help us to understand God's will and clarify our wants as they pertain to the needs of ourselves, our families, and our communities?

I am like a child before my Lord, asking for Him to take my hand and guide me through the confusion of this life and to protect me from those who want to harm me.  Please hear me God.  Lead me out of the messes I make for myself and open the eyes of those I love so they will know your peace, grace, and glory.

I humble myself before you O God.  And I thank you for all that you have done and will do.
