Vigilantes of Love

Vigilantes of Love came out of Athens, Georgia where other bands such as R.E.M. and B52's had been born.   They lean towards a country folk-rock sound.

This is one of those bands I can't tell you much about even though I have listened to their music.  I own a few of their CDs, but sad to say I haven't listened to them enough to become intimately familiar with the music.   I do know that I like their music and yet I probably couldn't identify one of their songs if I heard it.

Their group name begins with a V.  A good reason to include them here.

  1. I've seen Bill Mallonee in concert. He "is" VIgilantes. Now he just tours with his wife doing small house and coffee shop concerts. His band always changed personnel and eventually became, Bill Mallonee and the Vigilantes of Love, then the Vigilantes part got retired along with the band. I really like his sound and his message. Also one of the few Catholic musicians who are known for being "Christian artists". As opposed to mainstream ones.

  4. Thank you for sharing! Great lyrics that remind me of what I've been reading in Ecclesiastes just these last few days. "My-my, how loudly we plead our innocence, long after we've made our contribution." Convicting!

Ron -- Thanks for the additional info. I didn't know this, but as I indicated I haven't investigated this artist that much. He is good though.

Hippie -- The differences in blogging platforms can be frustrating. Thanks for the visit though.

  6. Hi Lee, I saw your plea for 100 followers and came running but alas I'm already one. I was going for 200 followers but I'm falling short. I've visited, commented and followed well over 300 but only got about 60 or so. Oh well...its still a great ride!

I have heard of the Vigilantes of LOve but can't recall their music. So many great bands of that era. Not like today with the filthy lyrics and nerve wrecking sound they call music.

  13. Thanks for your virtuous attempt at helping me out, BUT it still won't come up for me. It my be my browser, I'm in the Caribbean and this type of thing has happened to me before. Is it too much to ask you to email me a copy. Sorry to be such a pain.

  16. Susanne -- I think I need to pull their CDs off of my shelves and give them another listen.

faraway eyes -- You want me to email you a copy of the list?

Laurie -- What's with this Linky List problem? I have no problem seeing it every time I've pulled it up. All I can say is try again. Those lists have been known to go down for short periods now and then.

Thea -- I thought the video was nicely too.
